Assisted Living Waiver Program (ALWP)

The Assisted Living Waiver Program (ALWP) is a Medi-Cal program that helps transition elderly and disabled individuals from a nursing home or other institutional setting into an assisted living facility under supportive care services.

Under the ALWP, eligible individuals can receive supportive care services such as assistance with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs), medication management, nursing support for chronic medical and mental health conditions, and access to recreational and social activities within an assisted living facility.

The ALWP is a great, less restrictive alternative to a nursing home or institutional setting, as it allows individuals to reside in a more home-like environment while still receiving the necessary care and support they need to continue to thrive in the community.
